Mufti Salim Qasmi

Who he is

He's a Hafiz of the Quran, and an Aalim and Mufti from Darul Uloom Deoband, where he completed the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum and the Ifta specialisation in 2019.

He's taught Quran online since then, to more than 384 students across India and the Gulf. He's the founder and head teacher at IqraExpert.

He wrote the code for this site, he runs it, and he checks every Islamic claim on it. You can reach him at help@tasbih.info.

What he's qualified in

Ifta is the training in issuing rulings, and it's the part that matters most for this particular site. Choosing which narration to ship, printing the grading the collection gave it, and refusing to present a common practice as a narrated count are the decisions this project makes over and over.

You can see where that lands in the app rather than having to take it on trust. 8 of the 21 presets ship with no count at all, because the hadith gives none, so the counter reads "no set count" where the familiar number would normally sit.

La ilaha illallah is the one preset with its own grading line. It carries 3 gradings that don't all agree, and all 3 are printed.

Hifz means the Quran is memorised. It still isn't the source of any text here, because the rule at the top of the dhikr file is that nothing is sourced from memory.

That rule is why the three Quls now close the 9-step post-salah sequence, while Ayat al-Kursi remains a separate verified preset. The app prints the reason for that one remaining gap on screen when you finish the sequence.

What he isn't qualified in

The training covers sourcing and rulings. It doesn't cover everything this site touches, so the gaps are written out here in the same plain terms as the credentials.

This is why the site cites instead of asserting. All 21 presets link directly to their hadith, surah or verse source, so the claim is checkable by anyone, including people who know a narration better than he does.

If you have a question about your own situation, ask a scholar who knows that situation. This is a reference tool rather than a fatwa service, and a web page can't know your circumstances, your school or what you've already been told.

• He isn't a muhaddith. Judging a chain of narration on its own merits is a separate specialisation, so the app reports gradings as the collections and the named scholars gave them and never issues its own.
• He isn't a translator of classical Arabic literature. The English on the presets is a working meaning next to a source you can open, not a literary translation.
• He isn't a medical, legal or financial adviser, and nothing on this site is advice of any of those kinds.
• He isn't a review board. His name explains who checked the content, it doesn't settle a disputed question for you.

What he does on this site

He writes the code and he checks the content. One person is accountable for both: if the counter drops a tap, or a hadith number is wrong, the same name is attached to both faults.

The dhikr data is a single file. The counter reads it, and the open dataset at /dhikr.json is generated from that same file, so the published data and the running app can't quietly drift apart.

Errors get fixed and then logged in public on the corrections page, with the date. That log is empty today, which says the site is new rather than that it's free of errors.

The qualification belongs to him, not to this site

Darul Uloom Deoband has not reviewed this site and has not endorsed it. Nothing here is its position, and studying somewhere doesn't hand that institution's authority to a domain name.

IqraExpert is his own academy, so it isn't an independent reviewer either. No board, no committee and no second scholar sits behind this content today. One person checks it, and his name is at the top of this page.

Read the claim on this site as narrow and specific: the person who chose these narrations is trained to choose them, and every choice is cited so you can disagree with it.
