Can you do dhikr during your period?

The short answer

Ordinary dhikr continues as normal.

A tasbih, beads or a counter may be held and used.

There is nothing to make up afterwards, because none of it was missed.

The restriction people are reaching for is a different one. It concerns reciting the Qur'an and touching the mushaf, and that question has its own scholarly discussion, set out below. Dhikr on the tongue is not part of it.

Why this gets confused

Because prayer is paused, and people reasonably assume everything else is too.

Salah is not performed during menstruation and is not made up afterwards. Fasting is paused and is made up.

Dhikr is in neither category. It was never on a schedule to begin with.

The separate question about Qur'an

This is where the genuine scholarly discussion sits, and it is not settled in one direction.

Reciting Qur'an during menstruation is discussed, and positions differ between schools.

Touching the mushaf is discussed separately again, and reading from a phone screen is discussed differently from a physical copy.

A note on phrases that are verses

A few phrases people count are Qur'anic.

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal-wakeel is Quran 3:173. The Laylatul Qadr dua is a narration rather than a verse.
